Inside a meeting room at a downtown Jacksonville church, Ariana White
drew out some brightly colored words on a piece of paper that she would
tape on the dress she wore to school that day.
“Happy birthday to me.”
It was still dark Thursday morning, her 16th birthday. A special day.
But also a day like others in recent weeks — another one that Ariana
would spend without a home to call her own.
